To advance the international certification of Chinese university programs with high quality, the Secretariat of the Sino-German Industry-Academia-Research Application Innovation Consortium Action Plan, in collaboration with the China Alliance for International Cooperation of Applied Universities and the German ASIIN Accreditation Agency, organized a specialized training session on international program certification. The event was held at the Shanghai University of Engineering Science from October 31 to November 3, 2024. A delegation of five from the College of Food Science and Technology, including Dean Zhang Yun, Vice Dean Zhao Jing, and faculty members from the Department of Food Science and Engineering, participated in the training.
Since the launch of the first batch of ASIIN accreditation under China’s “50 Plan” for international certification of university programs on March 15 this year, a total of 30 programs from 15 universities across the country, including our university, have applied for international program accreditation in 2024. Among them, our Food Science and Engineering program has submitted its application for this round of certification.
The training focused on key themes including “International Higher Education Quality Assurance Standards, the Process and Principles of Accreditation Review, Self-Evaluation Reports and Assessment Criteria, and Mock Evaluations by Review Experts.” It was jointly conducted by Dr. Wasser, Dr. Hermes, and Dr. Monica from the German ASIIN Association, along with Associate Professor Liao Aihua from Shanghai University of Engineering Science. The program combined lectures, discussions, and simulated accreditation exercises, aiming to help the 15 universities participating in the first round of the Sino-German ASIIN International Program Accreditation gain a deeper understanding of: The ASIIN engineering accreditation process, key evaluation standards, strategic work priorities, potential challenges in real assessments, and targeted improvement measures.
The faculty members from the College of Food Science and Technology who participated in the training actively consolidated their learning outcomes and conducted multiple internal discussions during the program. They strived to fully grasp the training content and collaboratively engaged with their colleagues in preparing for the ASIIN accreditation. All participants successfully completed the training courses and received certification of completion.
